Human Design Type
Your Calibrator child
A rare, deeply empathic child who reflects how the family is doing and needs time to decide.
In classic Human Design this Type is called the Reflector. Quman uses the Quantum Human Design™ name.
Calibrators take in the energy of everyone around them. They are often the first to show it when something in the family changes, good or bad. They adapt slowly and need a home that feels right to them.
How they decide
Big decisions need a full moon cycle, about 28 days or more. Small decisions don't need to wait that long.
Try: During a big decision, check in daily: "How are you feeling about this?" Listen; don't advise.
What makes them feel loved
To be heard, and to feel at home with the people around them.
What helps
- A home that feels good to them. Let them have a say in their room and how things are arranged.
- Stability. Frequent moves are hard on them.
- Extra time and patience with big changes, especially anything that changes what home means.
- A sounding board: let them talk out loud to find clarity.
What to avoid
- Pressure to decide quickly, including early deadlines for schools or activities.
- Frequent moves or changes without time to adjust.
- Advice when they need someone to listen.
When they're discouraged
What it looks like: Disappointment, or sadness.
What it usually means: They decided too fast, they need more time with a change, or something in their surroundings isn't healthy.
How to talk to them
Use: Listening while they talk it through. Avoid: Advice they didn't ask for.
A big decision is coming. Try saying:
How are you feeling about this decision today?
Type is one part of your child's chart
Two Calibrator children can still be very different. Your child's report adds the rest of their chart and their age:
- How they make decisions, from their own chart
- Their profile and all nine centers: where they're steady and where they pick up the mood of the house
- What's normal at their age right now
- 3 scripts matched to their Type, and 3 Ask questions for this week's problems
Human Design isn't backed by scientific studies. Use this as a way to try something different, then trust what you see in your own child.
